| About the Mythical Beast Series |
This series utilizes the Ukiyo-e style to depict the forms of each divine beast. The term “Ukiyo” originates from the Buddhist term “ukiyo”（うきよ）, meaning the sorrows of life, which later evolved to mean the fleeting nature of the world. This series presents each divine beast in the basic creative form of “Musha-e,” one of the Ukiyo-e schools from the Edo period. Each divine beast is partially adorned with armor from Japan’s Warring States period, combined with traditional weapons, symbolizing guardians that protect every blessing.

Xie Zhi (Chinese Mythical Beast of Justice)
The Xie Zhi is depicted alongside the traditional Japanese weapon “Naginata” and the tactical concept “As Steady as the Forest.” The background, featuring plants, highlights the Xie Zhi as a symbol of order and justice.
The large calligraphy of the Chinese word “Stability” (おだやか in Japanese) in the corner conveys the meaning of “steady and composed” in both Chinese and Japanese.

The Bowmore Distillery, located on the coast of Loch Indaal on Islay Island, was founded in 1779. With over 200 years of history, it is one of Scotland’s oldest whisky distilleries. The distillery continues to preserve traditional distillation methods passed down through generations of craftsmen. They manually turn the malt to encourage germination and ensure the highest quality of raw materials. Today, only seven distilleries continue to uphold this traditional process. The peat used at Bowmore is sourced from nearby bogs, and its seawater-soaked peat imparts a distinctive maritime aroma, enhancing Bowmore’s unique character.
