From the Shōwa era to Reiwa, Toho has released a total of 33 Godzilla films, spanning more than four generations of the iconic monster. We have selected Godzilla from different eras, including the original 1954 Godzilla, the second-generation Heisei Godzilla from 1992, the third-generation Millennium Godzilla from 1999, and Godzilla’s Millennium era rival—MFS-3 (Multi-Purpose Fighting System-3), also known as Mechagodzilla.

Godzilla 2000 (Millennium Godzilla): 55 meters tall, 30,000 tons

Debuting in 1999, this Millennium Godzilla introduced a significantly different design from its Shōwa and Heisei predecessors. The new look emphasized reptilian features, including a flatter head shape and distinctly redesigned dorsal fins, which took on a flame-inspired aesthetic in reddish-purple hues. This Godzilla’s signature heat ray was the “Crimson Heat Ray,” and its forward-leaning stance gave it an overall sharper, more aggressive appearance.
