| About the Wine Guardian Mythical Beast Series |
Since the dawn of recorded human civilization, legendary creatures around the world have been countless. Due to cultural differences, the legendary creatures of the East and the West are also quite distinct—Eastern auspicious beasts and Western mystical creatures. The Wine Guardian Mythical Beasts in this series are inspired and designed based on Western mystical creatures. It is the cursed greed,
three thirsty souls,
trapped in the same body.
The raging flames consume,
an endless cycle of mutual plunder.
In Western mythology, dragons often covet precious things. For example, Fafnir in Norse mythology was transformed into a dragon due to his excessive greed, cursed by treasure. The three-headed dragon is even more complex, with three distinct personalities residing within a single body. This is depicted through their constant fighting for dominance, representing the dragon’s insatiable desire for possession of this cask of whisky. Its body tightly clings to the barrel, fearing the loss of its prized possession.

| Distillery information |
CAOL ILA, meaning “Islay Sound” in Gaelic, is located on Islay Island, the heart of peat production. However, CAOL ILA has opted for a gentler, more delicate peat flavor. The distillery boasts the largest stills on the island, which allows for longer reflux times and greater copper contact. This process removes excess impurities, resulting in a smoother whisky. If you’re seeking a peat whisky to start with, CAOL ILA is an excellent choice, as its subtle peat flavor enhances the complexity and richness of the spirit.
